Where To Watch July 4th Fireworks In Prince George's County

The City of Bowie won't be putting on an Independence Day show this year, but there will be other places for fireworks in PG County.

BOWIE, MD — Much to the chagrin of many who have come to enjoy the City of Bowie's 4th of July celebration, the town will not be hosting one this year. But there are a few other events in Prince George's County if you want to celebrate Independence Day but don't want to fight the crowds on the National Mall in D.C.

You can celebrate our nation's independence with roller coasters, water park fun, and fireworks over a three-day period at Six Flags.

Six Flags locations around the country will be hosting the event July 2-4, including Six Flags America here in Prince George's County. The park will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., with Hurricane Harbor open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

"With ten heart pounding coasters, 14 wet and wild water rides in Hurricane Harbor, a cool kiddie section, plus tons of delicious All - American food - what more could you ask for? You want shows? "University of Maryland July 4 Spectacular"

The University of Maryland and the City of College Park will host their own celebration featuring both fireworks and "rock and roll tunes." You'll need to bring lawn chairs and blankets, as well as some cash to buy concessions like hmaburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, soda, and ice cream -- although you can bring your own food ina personal cooler.

Concessions open at 5 p.m. on July 4, and the entertainment begins at 7 p.m., with fireworks starting at dusk -- about 9 p.m. There is a rain date of July 5.

Why not take in a little minor league baseball before the celebration starts? The hometown Bowie Baysox will be taking on Hartford at 6:35 p.m. on July 4, and after the game there will be a special fireworks show.

The team is offering special Luxury Suite Seat Tickets for $25 each until Friday, June 30, or until they are sold out. You'll get "indoor, climate controlled seating" inside the restaurant to watch the game and then the fireworks show.
