Woman Killed In Crash With Pickup Along Route 301
An Upper Marlboro woman died in a collision with a Chevy Silverado early Thursday morning, Police are investigating the crash.
COLLEGE PARK, MD — A fatal crash that happened early Thursday morning is being investigated by Maryland State Police.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., Maryland State Patrol troopers from the College Park Barrack responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Route 301 at Village Drive. The preliminary investigation indicates a Chevy Silverado was traveling northbound on Route 301 approaching a traffic signal when police believe a Mazda 3 entered the intersection crossing into the path of oncoming traffic.
Brenda Godbolt, 61, of Upper Marlboro was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical service personnel. Godbolt was the driver and sole occupant of the Mazda 3 involved in the crash.

The injured driver of a Chevrolet Silverado involved in the crash has been identified as Ronald Spangler, Jr., 30, of Glen Burnie. He refused medical treatment at the scene.
Lanes were closed for approximately five hours. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration responded to the scene to assist with lane closures and detours.

The results of the investigation will be presented to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County for review. The Maryland State Police Crash Team leads the active and ongoing investigation.
