Woman Robbed, Assaulted At Gunpoint After Car Deliberately Crashes Into Hers: Police
A woman reported robbed and assaulted at gunpoint after a car followed her, then crashed into her on the outer loop of I-495, police say.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman reported being followed by a vehicle on the outer loop of Interstate 495 that then tried to run her off the road. When the woman pulled over, she was robbed and assaulted at gunpoint.
Troopers with the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack were called to the outer loop of Interstate 495 early Wednesday morning. According to a preliminary investigation, a woman was driving on Route 1 near Ikea Way when she noticed a dark passenger vehicle following her. The suspect vehicle hit the woman’s vehicle as they entered the outer loop of I-495 from Route 1. Investigators said the suspect vehicle attempted to run the woman's vehicle off the road before she pulled over in the area of I-495 and Riggs Road.
The woman reported multiple individuals exiting the suspect vehicle, approaching her and then robbing and assaulting her at gunpoint before leaving the scene. Investigators believe the victim may have been specifically targeted, according to a report from the Maryland State Police.
