At Age 11, Prince George's Pool Shark Is Making Waves Across The Country

A young pool shark from Prince George's who began playing at just 4 now is the top-ranked U.S. pool player for the 13 and under division.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD β€” At the tender age of 4, Prince George's youngest pool shark, now 11, grabbed a pool stick and stunned everyone. Currently the top-ranked pool player for the 13 and under division of the Junior International Championships, D'Angelo "Jawz" Spain earned his nickname because he was "killing people on the pool table."

It all began when his family decided to buy a pool table. They weren't sure where to put it in their home.

"The only place we had to put it was in our living room, so we had to take our couches out, move them all out, and we did get a pool table," Jawz' mom Angela Spain told Fox 5 DC. "He did talk me into it."

Jawz' dad Frank Spain II and his mom support their tween who travels all across the country to play in tournaments. He has his sights set on going pro when he's older. For now, he loves just beating his dad in a round of pool.

"When you lose to him one time you feel like you lost to him 100 times because he’s gonna talk trash," Frank said. "He’s gonna rub it in. He’s gonna make you lose sleep over it."

Traveling to the tournaments adds up of course, so anyone who would like to support Jawz can do so at his GoFundMe page.
