• Southern Maryland Target Store's to Participate in Pokémon's 30th Anniversary Celebration (smnewsnet.com) — Brandywine's Target store will join 35 other Maryland locations in hosting a Pokémon 30th‑anniversary celebration on Sunday, September 27, from noon to 4 p.m. Local families can enjoy themed activities, photo spots, giveaways while supplies last, and plenty of Pokémon merchandise, with some stores also offering a Nintendo Switch 2 game demo.
   

• BODY-CAM VIDEO: Suspect Flees Waldorf Traffic Stop Before Deadly Crain Highway Crash (thebaynet.com) — Investigators have released body‑cam and in‑car video from a late‑August traffic stop that began in Waldorf and ended with a deadly crash on Crain Highway near Brandywine. The footage, shared by the Attorney General's office and Charles County Sheriff's Office, shows a wanted passenger taking the wheel, fleeing police, and ultimately colliding with two vans, killing a passenger and injuring others.
   

• Brandywine Man Sentenced in Federal Bribery Case (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — A 61‑year‑old Brandywine resident has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for conspiring to accept bribes while steering government construction work, according to prosecutors. The case, involving multiple Maryland and D.C. associates, highlights ongoing federal efforts to crack down on fraud and corruption in contracting that can affect taxpayers across the region.
