BHS Students Plant Trees for Green Initiative

students planted 34 trees around the school on Monday as part of an environmental program with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The trees were planted as part of Gov. Martin O’Malley’s Marylanders Plant Trees program, which launched in 2009, challenging Marylanders to plant and register 50,000 new trees by 2010.

When the goal was surpassed, O’Malley increased the target to 100,000 by the end of 2012.

To date, Marylanders have planted and registered 75,842 trees, according to the state's website.

In April, at as part of the Gift of Trees program.
