BHS Students Plant Trees for Green Initiative
A variety of trees were planted around the school on Monday by students.
students planted 34 trees around the school on Monday as part of an environmental program with the Maryland Department of Natural ResourcesΒ (DNR).

The trees were planted as part ofΒ Gov. Martin OβMalleyβs MarylandersΒ PlantΒ Trees program, which launchedΒ in 2009, challenging Marylanders to plant and register 50,000 new trees by 2010.

When the goal was surpassed, OβMalley increased the target to 100,000 by the end of 2012.
To date, Marylanders have planted and registered 75,842 trees, according to the state's website.
