Broadneck High Athletes Sign College Commitment Letters

These four student athletes already have big plans for college.

Four athletes signed their college commitment letters in front of a crowd of family, faculty and friends on Friday.

The four students are:

  • Nick Miller, football, attending Wesley College in the fall, majoring in nursing.
  • Dinah Jones, basketball, attending Morgan State University in the fall, majoring in social work.
  • Alli Graf, volleyball, attending the U.S. Naval Academy in the fall, majoring in oceanography.
  • Tyler Drake, football, attending Elon University in the fall, majoring in business.

Broadneck Principal David Smith gave a speech before the students signed saying that they were destined for greatness, but reminded them to keep in mind they are student athletes.

"I'm proud of you as your principal for what you do in the classroom and outside the classroom," he said.

Assistant principal Roxanne Hendershot said she remembers her days as a college athlete fondly.

"Everyone that makes it to college athletics were the best where they were from. It's a hard adjustment going from being the best to being a freshman. But enjoy yourselves, and I'm sure you'll do fine," she said.

The athletes were joined by their parents and friends for group photos to close out the event.
