Broadneck High Boys Soccer Team Earns National Academic Honors

The 2010-2011 varsity team coached by Sean Tettemer scored high on and off the field.

The boys varsity soccer team of ranked among 350 schools recently honored with a National Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 school year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

"This is the ninth consecutive year that we have won this award," wrote coach Sean Tettemer in an email to Patch.

The team earned an average GPA of 3.89, according to the NSCAA. To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum average GPA of 3.25 for the entire year.

While there were other teams on the list from Maryland, Broadneck was the only school listed in Anne Arundel County. Nationally, 135 boys teams and 215 girls teams received the honor.
