Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. A lacrosse star was named most valuable player this week in a national tournament featuring some of the best high school players in the country. BHS girls' lacrosse player Aislinn Probst was named the MVP for team Freedom in the Champion All-American Showcase, which wrapped up this weekend. The tournament featured players nominated and selected by coaches from around the country. The championship game in the all-star tournament was played between team Freedom and team Liberty. The final score was Freedom 16, Liberty 13, with Aislinn Probst named as the MVP for Freedom. Probst will be a senior this fall at BHS. The achievement earned recognition on national sports websites, <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/lacrosse/post/_/id/6443/freedom-uses-strong-second-half-to-win-2012-champion-all-american-showcase" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">including ESPN.</a> Probst, along with four other BHS athletes, Congratulations to Probst for an amazing year in lacrosse.
