Congressman Harris Visits Broadneck

Constituent visit fills local library with concerned citizens.

U.S. Rep. Andy Harris had a busy Wednesday this week, first greeting and chatting with customers at the Severna Park Safeway and then finishing the day with a constituent town hall type meeting at the Broadneck Library.

The congressman, accompanied by a CNN camera crew and CNN congressional correspondent Dana Bash, took questions from the crowd that covered a variety of topics from Medicare, to the budget deficit, to health care, and education.

The standing room only crowd, made up of mostly seniors, shared concerns about their families, their homes, their community, their country, and their futures.

"I think it is clear that Americans are unhappy with the ways things are going," said Harris. "Every two years, citizens are able to head to the polls and elect new congressional representatives that will hopefully send a message. I think that is what happened in November."

The meeting was only ended because of the closing of the library building.Β
