Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. Chances are that there's a formal dress hanging in the back of a closet in your home. Maybe it was worn to prom, homecoming or even a wedding but it's not something that is likely to be worn again. Consider donating a dress to , which is collecting formal dresses, shoes and accessories to benefit local high school girls during prom season. Items are currently being accepted through Jan. 1, 2012 at the Student Union 202. Note that everything must be new or in gently used condition and dresses should be clean, free of stain or tears and preferably on a hanger.  This effort is sponsored by the <a href="http://www.aacc.edu/studentlife" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Student Life office</a> and Campus Activities Board.
