Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. Note: Organizers announced Thursday that the parade would be shortened due to the heat wave.Starting at 6:30 p.m., the City of Annapolis will host its annual parade on July 4, 2026, in the downtown area. The parade will kick off on Amos Garrett Boulevard&nbsp;and continue down West Street before making a left onto Calvert Street to St. John's Street.
"Marching bands, community groups, and vintage vehicles take over downtown," reads an announcement from the city.
The parade will be followed by a performance at 7:45 p.m. by the Naval Academy band. The&nbsp;concert takes place&nbsp;at the State House Grounds (100 State Circle).
A fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. over Spa Creek rounds out the night.
