Parent Involvement Conference at AACC to Discuss the Achievement Gap
The conference will be held at Anne Arundel Community College on Nov. 5 and will feature a keynote address followed by breakout discussion groups.

A free parent involvement conference on Saturday will encourage discussion among those who have an and how the school system is attempting to in the county.
The parent involvement conference, βStrong Families, Strong Communities: Working Together to Eliminate the Achievement Gap,β will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at (AACC).
According to a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), the keynote speaker will be John Hodge, an educational expert on student success. After his presentation, parents will break into small groups for discussion.

The event is sponsored by AACPS' Office of School and Family Partnerships, the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program and the Title I Program in partnership with AACC. Spanish and Korean interpreters will be available at the conference, according to AACPS.
Although the conference is free and open to the public, space is limited so participants should register online or call 410-222-5414.

Note that daycare can be arranged for ages 3 to 12, but preregistration is required by calling 410-222-5309.
