Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Big Vanilla's marketing director Donna Sage said she was grateful to all their customers coming out to show their support.  "Big Vanilla is proud to have been chosen by Patch readers as the best gym in Broadneck," Sage said in an email. "We strive to inspire a healthy attitude, healthy families and a healthy community."  Next week, we'll let readers choose the best St. Paddy's Day spot in town in preparation for the big day on March 17.
