Students, Professors Haul Trucks for Prizes at AACC
This is the first year AACC has hosted a truck pull competition.
Faculty and students dragged UPS and FedEx trucks across a finish line for the first official (AACC) truck pull competition.
A group of 20 teams, with five people per team, pulled the trucks with a rope in the hopes of scoring the best time. Each truck weighed a few tons, but with five strong backs, the times ranged between 13-18 seconds.
The top prize includedΒ a $300 tuition voucher toward a transportation course at AACC, and bragging rights.

Organizer Kipp Snow, an instructor at AACC, said the event was a fun gathering but the main goal was to orient students to course offerings within the transportation department.
Kiosks for various courses were spread around the parking lot near the event, as well as booths for the main sponsors, which included Maryland Motor Truck Association, Ports America, CSX, Securitas, UPS, FedEx and the Maryland Port Administration.
