• Cambridge enacts one-year moratorium on data centers (somdnews.com) — Cambridge officials have approved a one-year moratorium on new data centers, giving the city time to write zoning rules and protections before any proposals arrive. Mayor Lajan Cephas-Bey and commissioners say they want to understand how such facilities could help or harm Cambridge’s health, safety, and economy, with staff now tasked to deliver draft regulations within 12 months.

• Multi-Million Dollar Solution Aims to Reduce Flooding Risks in Cambridge (delmarvapublicmedia.org) — Cambridge is moving ahead with a massive waterfront flood-protection project that could reshape 1.6 miles of the Choptank River shoreline and safeguard hundreds of at-risk properties. The Make Cambridge Resilient plan calls for a flood wall, new wetlands, and marshes, but rising costs, property-owner agreements, and funding gaps mean construction may be phased through a projected 2029 completion.

• Frustrated farmers seek solutions to increased deer crop damage (americanfarm.com) — Local and regional farmers packed the Dorchester County Commissioners meeting room in Cambridge this week to press state officials about severe deer damage to crops and push for easier control permits and possible compensation. They argued current night-hunting rules are too burdensome, while DNR leaders and legislators discussed expanding permit windows, new “hot spot” authority, and potential legislation to ease losses.
