Local history accounts and community memoirs note that the Baltimore Colts practiced on the grounds of what is now the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD.
Before becoming a senior living campus, the 110-acre property was home to the St. Charles Seminary.
After the seminary closed and before the property was redeveloped into Charlestown in the early 1980s, the open fields and grounds were allegedly used by the Baltimore Colts for practice sessions.
Longtime area residents and local officials have frequently recalled seeing the team work out on the property during that transitional period.
Their recollections have been disputed by the director of the Baltimore Colts Marching Band.
Did the Baltimore Colts practice on the property, or not? The mystery will forever be Catonsville folklore.
