📰 News we're reading

• 'Pure chaos': Baltimore County moves to crack down on commercial house parties (foxbaltimore.com) — Catonsville residents may soon see stricter rules on large commercial pool parties after a summer of noisy, crowded events that neighbors say brought trash, trespassing, and safety concerns to their streets. Baltimore County's proposed legislation would ban for‑profit, publicly advertised house parties at residential properties, with fines up to $5,000 and enforcement by county police, while still allowing traditional private gatherings and permitted nonprofit events.

• Maryland Department of Transportation Deploys $11.3 Million to Expand Bicycle and Pedestrian Infrastructure Across Maryland (smnewsnet.com) — Catonsville is slated to receive state Bikeways funding to design new bicycle infrastructure that will improve connections to parks, schools, trails, and local business areas. The grant is part of an $11.3 million statewide package supporting safer walking and biking, including trail work and Safe Routes to School projects in other Maryland communities, all aimed at expanding active transportation options.
