CATONSVILLE, MD — A man wanted in connection with for-profit house parties in Baltimore County is facing extradition to Maryland after fleeing to North Carolina.
Baltimore County Police said in a release that they arrested Norman Johnson, 61, in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Monday after coordinating with regional task force agencies.
An arrest warrant was issued for Johnson after he was charged in July with maintaining a disorderly house, an offense now tied to the county's ban on for-profit house parties.
Johnson ultimately fled the Old Line State after agreeing to surrender to authorities at the time.
Police said the arrest warrant triggered a probation violation for Johnson in a separate car theft case that required him to appear in Carroll County on Sept. 29.
The pool parties that put Johnson under renewed legal scrutiny took place over the summer in Catonsville's Collinsway neighborhood.

CBS Baltimore reported the parties angered residents as they drew hundreds of people to a quiet neighborhood.
In North Carolina, Johnson was said to have barricaded himself inside his residence before eventually being forced out. He now remains held at the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to Maryland.
Johnson's arrest comes shortly after lawmakers in Baltimore County passed legislation to crack down on for-profit house parties. Violations currently carry a fine of up to $5,000.
