Here are the top stories today in Catonsville:
- On Thursday, Baltimore County held a job fair at Catonsville High School to address the district's worsening teacher shortage. The fair helped fill nearly 300 local teacher vacancies, but Cindy Sexton, president of the Teachers Association of Baltimore County, describes these types of events as a "band aid solution" to a "critical problem" in the education sector. Many factors, including low salaries, large workloads, and a declining interest in teaching, are contributing to the growing shortage of educators. (WMAR)
- Catonsville residents worked together to save a deer with a bucket stuck on its head. Karen Ebrahim first spotted the deer in her backyard and posted on Nextdoor to seek help from neighbors. A neighbor and members of Ebrahim's landscaping service eventually cornered the deer into her stairwell and finally removed the bucket. (Baltimore Fishbowl)
