Catonsville Double Shooting Suspects Lead Police Chase to HoCo Line: Officials

Homicide near Johnnycake Road and Upper Mill Circle is under investigation, Baltimore County police say.

Two men who led police on a chase from Catonsville to the Howard County line were taken into custody Monday night in connection with a pair of shootings, one of which was fatal, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

One victim—who has not yet been identified—was found dead in a vehicle in the 7000 block of Upper Mills Circle, and another was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the back, police reported.

The investigation began at approximately 5:54 p.m. on Monday when a Baltimore County police supervisor heard gunshots in the area of Johnnycake Road at Upper Mills Circle, the report said.

Following the sound, the supervisor saw a man running down the road who had been shot at least once in the back, according to police.

Authorities determined the suspects had left the area in a red van, which police located on US Route 40 west, heading toward the Howard County line, the report said.

Before the suspects could be stopped, they crashed the van into multiple vehicles, including police cars, according to the report.

At the bridge on Route 40 near the Howard County line, police took the two men suspected in the shootings into custody, the report said. Charges are pending including murder and other offenses, according to police.
