Catonsville Man Seriously Injured in Odenton Car Crash

The 25-year-old is in critical condition after crashing his car into a tree. Speed and alcohol may have been factors, police said.

A 25-year-old Catonsville man was seriously injured in a car crash in Odenton early Saturday morning, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

James Truffer, of 118 Locust Drive, is in critical condition after he lost control of his car and struck a tree on Patuxent Road north of Conway Road, a police release said.

Truffer was driving a 2003 Toyota Solara northbound on Patuxent Road around 4:37 a.m. Saturday when his vehicle began to leave the roadway on the northbound shoulder. Truffer apparently over-corrected the steering of the car, lost control and struck a tree.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel extricated Truffer, who was trapped inside the vehicle, and took him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries.

His condition Monday morning was critical and unstable. Speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, according to police.
