Happy Saturday, people of Catonsville! Here's everything going on today in town.

First, today's weather:

Variable cloudiness. High: 64 Low: 46.

Here are the top stories in Catonsville today:

  1. The Community College of Baltimore County academic theatre program will finally resume live performances indoors for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Selections for the 2021 season's theatre program align with the theme, "And Still I Rise," based on the Maya Angelou poem about rising above the darkness, tests, and trials. "Detroit '67," a play by Dominique Morisseau about the 1967 Detroit riot, will be performed at CCBC Catonsville in November. (Avenue News)
  2. The bus industry continues to struggle through the pandemic, with many local companies experiencing extreme worker shortages. For instance, companies like Catonsville-based Woodlawn Motor Coach can't seem to hire enough drivers to get more of their buses on the road, despite incentives like higher pay rates and sign-on bonuses. Many bus companies feel the federal relief money given to them was insufficient and are hoping to receive more of a financial boost. (CBS Baltimore)
  3. Despite an annual trend toward "cooling off" during the fall and winter months, the Catonsville housing market is expected to remain hot through the end of 2021. A whopping 73 percent of single-family homes listed for sale in the 21228 ZIP code have been going under contract within two weeks, according to Redfin data. Area homes are selling for a median price of $384,950, which is 9 percent higher than during the same period last year. (Catonsville Patch)
