Charlestown Residents Donate $191,536 to Thank Their Hourly Staff

Residents of Charlestown retirement community in Catonsville, MD,  donated $191,536 to their campus’ Staff Appreciation Fund to show their appreciation to their hourly staff for jobs well done in 2013.

The money benefitted 935 hourly staff members from all departments, including Dining Services, General Services and Health Services. This fundraising drive among residents is done annually during the holiday season.

Charlestown, which has 2,300 residents, offers extensive wellness and prevention programs, balance assessment and fall prevention programs, and Fitness and Aquatics Center.

Also, there are more than 200 resident-inspired and resident-led clubs, committees and interest groups in these categories: art; cards; computers & technology; dance; faith-based and interfaith; film, fitness and sports; games; gardening; investments; lifelong learning; music; literature, philanthropy; political awareness; theater; woodworking; and writing.
