Charlestown Residents Walk 11,521 Miles in Month-Long Venture

Ninety-seven Charlestown  retirement community residents walked a total of 11,521 miles during the month of September as part of a national “Walking Around the World with Erickson Living” health and fitness venture. Charlestown is managed by Erickson Living.

The challenge was to log all walking and exercise minutes throughout the month. Minutes were converted to miles to get a mileage total.  Residents walked in a variety of locations within Charlestown’s 110-acre campus and also throughout the greater Catonsville, MD, community.

Wellness Manager Teresa Reymann met regularly with residents to discuss their exercise plans. There are numerous resident group exercise classes held each week at Charlestown.

Nearly 800 Erickson Living residents, staff, family, and friends walked over 150,000 miles -- effectively circling the globe at the Equator more than six times – during the venture. The collective Erickson Living tennis shoe touched down in 13 different countries and 36 different states, including the District of Columbia.
