Charlestown's Turkey Trot Raises $1,000 for Local Charities

Rain Doesn't Stop Fundraiser

Scores of Charlestown retirement community residents and staff participated November 17 in a Turkey Trot fundraiser for Southwest Emergency Services, a nonprofit group based at Arbutus United Methodist Church that provides food for hungry families, and Marian House, a holistic, healing community for women and their children who are in need.

The Turkey Trot, which was held indoors because of rain, raised a total of $1,000.

Participants, led by a “mystery,” costumed Turkey (aka EMS Manager Joe Besche) , walked among kitchens, fitness and aquatics centers, lounges, dining rooms, and lobbies throughout Charlestown’s residential buildings connected by climate-controlled walkways.
