Aaron Posner: Making Old Things New

Award-winning theatre artist Aaron Posner will discuss the appeal of classical works and his approach to making these tales fresh and accessible to contemporary audiences.

Posner's work has been seen at the most prominent regional theatres in the country including D.C.'s  Folger Theatre; his work there has twice earned him Helen Hayes Awards for outstanding direction. Posner is especially recognized for his Shakespearean productions. The New York Times called his 2007 Macbeth "a knockout," and The Wall Street Journal wrote, "This riveting Macbeth ought to be seen by as many people as possible." His stage adaptations include works by Chaim Potok, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Ken Kesey, Mark Twain and numerous others. Posner received an Eisenhower Fellowship in 2000, a grant to promote the international exchange and sharing of information among emerging new leaders.
