Halloween Games for the Family
Hosting a Halloween Party and need some ideas for entertaining the kids? Patch has you covered with eight classic games.

Halloween is just around the corner. And with it comes parties, gatherings and heapfuls of candy. To keep the kids entertained, or maybe just help them burn off the sugar high, try a few of these fun Halloween games.
Mummy Game
You’ll need:
white crepe paper or toliet paper
Here’s what you do:
Have kids form pairs. One party goer gets to be the mummy, one gets to be the wrapper. Start wrapping and the first team to completely wrap their mummy wins.
Spider Web Game
You need:
Yarn
A small toy for each child
Here’s what you do:
Hide a toy somewhere in the room. Then tie that toy to the end of a ball of yarn. Wind the yarn around the room winding around chair, table legs, etc. Tie the end to something (it will be the child’s starting point so you may want all the ends to start in the same place). Do the same for each toy.
Have guest select one string to follow to find their toy.
Monster Charades
You’ll need:
Popsicle sticks or strips of paper
Here’s what you do:
Write down monsters on the end of popsicle sticks (or pieces of paper) and have kids draw one at a time and act out what’s on their stick.
Flashlight Tag
You'll need:
A flashlight
Big group of friends
Here's what you do:
Choose a player to be IT.
That player counts to 20 with his or her flashlight on while everyone else hides. To tag, IT shines a light on a player and calls out their name. Once all the players are caught the first person tag becomes the new IT.
Zombie Tag
What you'll need:
A group of friends
Here's what you do:
Chose a player to be IT. IT tags someone. That someone becomes another IT and can tag others. Everyone who gets tagged turns into an IT until all kids are eventually tagged.
Note: kids can either make zombie sounds to signal they’ve been tagged or run with both arms outstretched like a zombie.
Blob Tag
What you'll need:
A group of friends
What you'll do:
Chose two players to be IT.
The ITs lock their arms together. They shouldn’t come apart. IT tags a player. The player tagged becomes part of the blob by locking arms to one of the ends. As players get tagged, they join one of the ends of the blob. Only the ends can tag. Game ends when everyone is absorbed into the blob.
Note: Since only the ends of the blob can tag, players can run through the middle of the blob without being tagged. If a player runs through the middle, the blob may divide itself into two blobs.

Once the ghost is chosen, he or she runs off while everyone stays on base. All the players (except for the ghost) says in unison, "Star light, star bright, I hope I see a ghost tonight!" Then they all run out into the playing field.
The ghost hides and pops out to tag players. When players in the field see the ghost they should yell, "Ghost in the Graveyard!" When a player is tagged, he or she becomes a ghost too and can tag others. Untagged players can try to run back to base, repeat the "Star light, star bright" chant and run back out into the field. Play continues until all the players have been turned into ghosts.
Pumpkin Pie
What you'll need:
A group of friends
What you'll do:
This is a variation on duck duck goose and played the same way, but in this version, instead of saying "duck duck goose" a player walks around the circle and says, "pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin pie!" as he or she touches the seated players heads. When "pumpkin pie" is shouted, the seated player who was touched gets up and chases the player who was "it" around the circle.
