I-695 Crash At Route 40 Closed Inner Loop Of Baltimore Beltway

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A multi-vehicle crash involving a vehicle fire snarled traffic on the inner loop of Interstate 695 Thursday morning near Catonsville, closing part of the beltway for more than half an hour.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:18 a.m. in the area of I-695 at Baltimore National Pike/US 40, according to state transportation officials.

One of the vehicles caught fire, the State Highway Administration reported.

All lanes of the inner loop were temporarily shut down due to the three-vehicle crash, officials reported.

As of 9 a.m., the right lane was closed but all others were getting by.
