Presidents Biden and Obama deported more undocumented immigrants duriung their administrations than President Trump did, or can do. They did it in a thoughtful way by prioritizing criminal behavior, national security risks, terrorism, etc. By comparison, Trump's shotgun approach to ICE raids -- a raid reportedly happened last week on Wade Avenue in Catonsville -- is nhumane and cruel.
-- For instance, tourists have been arrested and held in detention centers for no cause.
-- Legal immigrants with no criminal record have been abducted and taken to torture prisons with no due process.
-- Children needing critical cancer treatments have been ripped from their parents.
Immigrants who were awaiting their legal process were ambushed on the steps of courthouses and kidnapped. The majority of undocumented workers being apprehended by ICE have been longstanding members of their local communities who simply want to work, to raise their children in peace and to have a better life. They are picking our fruit and vegetables, cutting our grass, cooking our food and paying taxes.
America has always been a nation of immigrants from which we all descended. The Trump regime views immigrants as an "invasion" fueled by criminality and mental illness. Yet they will sell a $5 million Trump gold card to an immigrant as a pathway to citizenship if their skin is not black or brown.
One of the most sobering realities since the November 5th election has been the ease with which Americans feel free to openly show their bigotry and hate.
