Jogger Hit With Object Thrown By Teen In Vehicle: Police
The 13-year-old Catonsville male has been referred to the department of juvenile services for his involvement in the Ocean City incident.
CATONSVILLE, MD — A 13-year-old juvenile from Catonsville and 46-year-old Kristina Hampton of West Friendship have been charged in an incident where Ocean City police say the male juvenile threw objects out of a car window at multiple people, nearly striking a woman pushing a young child in a stroller, two women at a bus stop and then hitting a jogger in the head.
Hampton has been charged with three counts each of reckless driving, negligent driving and throwing refuse on the highway, along with other traffic citations. The 13-year-old male juvenile has been referred to the department of juvenile services. Hampton and the juvenile are not related, police indicated.
The jogger reported the Aug. 19 incident to the police. The victim told police a witness had recorded the incident on a cell phone. Ocean City officers viewed the video that showed a Range Rover shifting into the bus lane and tapping the brakes. In the video, the juvenile boy emerges from the rear passenger seat window and makes a throwing motion toward the jogger, The Dispatch noted.

The witness told police he saw the juvenile emerge from the rear passenger seat window and throw an object at a woman pushing a stroller along the sidewalk. The thrown object landed in front of the woman with the stroller. The witness followed the Range Rover that moved into the bus lane a second time. The juvenile again emerged and threw another unknown object at two women waiting at the bus stop, The Dispatch shared.
At this time, the witness had his passenger begin to record the Range Rover and as the vehicle approached a jogger, the driver maneuvered into the bus lane and the juvenile threw another object at the jogger, striking her in the head. The police department thanked residents on its Facebook page for reaching out to them to make sure they were aware of the incident, since the video had been shared on social media.
