Black History Month. Book Launch. Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 6pm - 8:30pm https://www.Facebook.com/PearlMatibeAuthor

[Maryland, USA – February 3rd, 2015] African Americans have an intrinsic yoke to Africa; once upon a time secured by blood that is now a challenge to trace. African Americans can glean as well as obtain inspiration from us; Africans. To counter negative images and stereotypes that belittle, knock-down and demean the African in America.

African Americans and Africa share an indivisible history, which, if nourished, will conceive and nurture reciprocal, bilateral benefits on so many levels. It is possible to champion forward, cultivate and cherish enduring long lasting ties with Africa. It’s not impossible for African Americans to learn from African women that inspire others. The ‘image’ of what others think of us will form the day-to-day perceptions of how the world views who we are.

One can’t celebrate Black History Month without mentioning Africa; without connecting to the African continent.

Editorial Review:

“…A work so compelling…powerful…riveting…captivating…empowering…Her work bridges the historical, geopolitical, and cultural divide…” ~ Karla M. Wynn, Wynn Writes Productions – Baltimore MD

Excerpt From The Book’s Foreword:

“...Her reflections on being black in Africa but brought up in white culture, on what it means to be an African, or an African-American, are fascinating because they open a window onto the question of identity - how we forge it, change it, preserve it or lose it. She comes from a particular place at a particular time in history but her story has much to teach us all.

Lindsey Hilsum

London, February 2014...”

The author, Pearl Matibe, honors the birthplace; the very origin and source. Re-connect with it – which is Africa. That is where the ‘cream’ of able bodied, beautiful young men and women were up-rooted and disembarked in America.
