Here are the top stories in Catonsville today:
- Today, The Baltimore County Arts Guild in Catonsville will host their painters open, a weekly 2-hour program for emerging and experienced artists to gather together and create. Artists are encouraged to bring their own supplies, however, they are able to assist new artists with basic supplies if needed. Attendance for the event is free, but registration and proof of vaccination are required. (Catonsville Patch)
- An alumna of Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville headed to space with Blue Origin yesterday. Audrey Powers, who graduated from the Baltimore County school in 1994, blasted off onboard New Shepard NS-18. She serves as the vice president of mission and flight operations at Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. (WBALTV)
- Data has shown that the Catonsville-area unemployment rate has decreased. The latest available local unemployment figures are for Aug. and show an improvement since July in the Catonsville area. Although nationally, 17.4 million jobs have been added back to the economy since April 2020, the country is still down 5 million positions (3.3 percent) from pre-pandemic levels. (Catonsville Patch)
