Pet Volunteers Help Keep Charlestown Active and Connected
Pets are an important part of the vibrant lifestyle at Charlestown

At Charlestown, a continuing care retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Senior Living, in Catonsville, MD, pets are more than companions. They're an important part of the vibrant lifestyle that helps keep residents active, engaged, and connected to one another. From pet-friendly walking paths to on-campus dog runs, residents and their four-legged friends enjoy opportunities to stay social and active every day.
Earlier this month, that spirit was on full display during the recent Pet Volunteer Appreciation Event, which welcomed both current and prospective pet volunteers. Throughout the year, these dedicated volunteers and their pets visit residents in Continuing Care and across the Charlestown campus, bringing comfort, companionship, and countless smiles.
One volunteer in particular has captured hearts across campus. Foxy, affectionately known as Charlestown's “Director of Smiles,” is a former show dog who continues to shine long after leaving the spotlight. Known to residents and team members alike, Foxy can often be found making her rounds, accepting pats, and spreading joy wherever she goes. Her friendly personality and star quality have made her a beloved ambassador for Charlestown's pet-friendly community.
