Police: Victim's Son Accused in Stabbing Death

Baltimore County Police say Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi allegedly killed his father in their home on Tuesday.

Baltimore County Police claim the victim in a Tuesday morning homicide was killed by his son in their Catonsville Home.

Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi, 18, is charged with first-degree murder. He left the region sometime following the discovery of his father’s body. Police located him at 5:30 p.m. at a rest stop in Bowmansville, Penn.

The victim was identified as 50-year-old Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi.

Just before noon Tuesday, police arrived at the family’s home in the 1000 block of Southridge Road regarding a cardiac arrest.

The victim was found with traumatic injuries and declared deceased at the scene, according to police.

There was reportedly evidence of stab wounds and bludgeoning at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted today to determine an official cause and manner of death.

The initial investigation into the incident has indicated that the victim’s wife received a call from a relative in New Jersey asking her to check on the victim, according to police. The relative in New Jersey has received a text message from Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabbasi asking them to check on the victim.

When the victim’s wife went to check on him, she found him not moving and covered with blood so she called 911. The call was dispatched as a cardiac arrest because of how dispatch software coded the call.
