Rails to Trails Transfers 23 Acres of Short Line Trail to Baltimore County

Transfer will guarantee the land and trail will stay a public space.

The Baltimore County Council voted Monday night to accept the transfer of 23 acres from to the county.

The deal is for the which Rails to Trails has been working to clear for the old railroad bed for a 2.2-mile long hiking and biking trail. Currently a portion of the trail is open from the to Maidens Choice Lane.

After 10 years, Baltimore County will take over the maintenance and operation of the land, which is valued at $10,000.

Tom Ajluni, president of Rails to Trails, said in an e-mail that the transfer means that it will remain public space for generations to come.
