Residents at Charlestown Champion Education Through Annual Student Scholarship Program

At Charlestown, 35 students received donor-designated scholarships totaling $794,000.

Thirty-five team members were recently named Student Scholars at the 38th annual Scholars Award ceremony at Charlestown, an Erickson Senior Living community in Catonsville, MD.

These hardworking student employees, who served as servers and hosts across Charlestown's on-campus dining venues and within the nursing program, were honored for their dedication and commitment. Their achievements are supported by scholarships funded by generous contributions from community residents, helping position these students for continued success. In total, 35 students received donor-designated scholarships totaling $794,000.

To recognize their hard work and propel their promising futures, Charlestown residents generously contributed to the Scholars Fund, awarding these student employees up to $2,500 per semester for up to eight semesters, or a one-year scholarship awarding up to $2,500 per semester for two semesters. In addition to the scholarships, first-time student scholars receive a $1,000 technology grant.

"These students consistently go above and beyond in balancing work, school, and service to our residents," said Executive Director Don Grove. "This scholarship program is only possible because of our residents' generosity, and the impact it has on our students is lasting."

To qualify for a four-year scholarship, students must work a minimum of 1,000 hours, remain in good academic and professional standing, and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school full-time.
