Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Yesterday, Feb. 15, Maryland's attorney general announced the indictments of six people allegedly involved in an interstate cocaine trafficking conspiracy. Authorities seized 15 kilograms of cocaine, 400 grams of crack cocaine, 10 firearms, and over $493,000 of narcotics proceeds and equipment in Baltimore County. According to a federal drug-trafficking enforcement group's investigation, from July 2022 through October 2022 the defendants transported drugs and money between Baltimore County and Houston, Texas.   2. On Feb. 14, thousands of Baltimore County teachers wore red to protest Superintendent Darryl L. Williams' proposed budget for the next year, which includes 162 teacher cuts. BCPS teachers wearing "Red for Ed" is also part of the Teachers Association of Baltimore County's (TABCO) petition for cost of living adjustments (COLAs) in the fiscal year 2024 budget.   3. Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse senior Madison McPherson, a Catonsville native, was recently interviewed by PressBox. As a midfielder, McPherson posted 33 goals, six assists, 31 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers, and 33 draw controls for the Blue Jays in 2022. McPherson said she began playing lacrosse at a young age after some parents in Catonsville suggested it. (PressBox Online)
