Tractor-Trailer Crashes, Spills Fuel On I-95: Maryland State Police

Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer was hospitalized after a crash near the bridge over the Patapsco River.

A tractor-trailer driver was taken to shock trauma Saturday morning after crashing into a structure supporting an overpass on Interstate 95, according to Maryland State Police. The crash involved a 125-gallon fuel spill, officials added.

At 5:20 a.m., an empty tractor-trailer crashed on I-95 north before the exit for MD 195 near the Patapsco River bridge, officials said.

The driver was injured and taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, police reported.

Lane closures were in effect for several hours as agencies including the State Highway Administration and Maryland Department of the Environment responded.

Structural bridge engineers and commercial motor vehicle personnel were also called to the scene.
