Trump's abrupt firing of Dr. Carla Hayden as the Librarian of Congress is wrong. For her to be notified of her dismissal via a terse, two-sentence email sent by a random political hack is disgraceful.
Dr. Hayden was formerly the CEO of Enoch Prattt Free Library in Baltimore, MD. She served with distinction as the Librarian of Congress since 2016. She was first woman and African American to hold the position.
Dr. Hayden’s tenure has been marked by a commitment to accessibility, modernization, and the democratization of knowledge. She digitalized the Library of Congress and made it more accessible to the public.
Her advocacy of reading and freedom of speech has made her a role model for everyone who values the power of the written word.
Trump has proven once more that he is threatened by influential women of color. What a pathetic, insecure and racist person he is.
