First, today's weather:

Breezy with variable clouds. High: 63 Low: 53.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Catonsville:

  1. With nearly 5,000 cases of COVID-19 in Catonsville and counting, local residents may be wondering when COVID-19 pills will be coming to Maryland. FDA approval for pills developed by both Pfizer and Merck could come by the end of this month. Once approved, Maryland doctors could immediately order the pills directly from medical distributors for their patients. In Pfizer's studies, adults taking the company's drug had a 10-fold decrease in virus levels compared with those on placebo — enough to possibly keep them out of the hospital. (Patch)
  2. Looking for some educational family fun? Stop by the Catonsville branch of the Baltimore County Public Library for events for family members of all ages throughout the rest of this month. For younger children, there's Family and Friends Story Time and Comedy Story Time. Teen Time includes games, crafts, movies, and more, and there's a Books and Conversations book club for adult readers. (Baltimore County Public Library)
  3. A former Baltimore County police officer accused of stealing a dead woman's identity has pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft. Online court records show Deandre Ross, 27, was sentenced to 18 months in jail, followed by 18 months of probation. Ross had been dispatched to investigate a call about a woman's sudden death in March. The family later filed a theft report for a missing laptop, which prompted an investigation that led to criminal charges. Ross is required to pay $1,990 in restitution and will report to jail on Jan. 3. (Subscription: Baltimore Sun)
