White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's daily press briefings are propaganda sessions with one purpose: to stroke President Trump's ego. Incredibly, reporters are allowing it.
They dare not ask anything they think might make Trump angry, or might result in them being banned from the briefings.
Leavitt already banned an Associated Press reporter who refused to refer to Trump's newly-named "Gulf of America" in news coverage, as he demands.
She also said no one has the right to ask Trump questions.
Leavitt is clearly violating the First Amendment's guarantee of press freedom.
In response, reporters merely sit quietly and listen to her say things that are blatantly untrue. She is never factchecked.
Perhaps reporters need to re-examine their commitment to their profession.
At present, they are a disgrace.
