2. Microsoft Opens Quantum Research Center At University Of MD (patch.com) — Microsoft has opened a new Quantum Discovery Center in College Park's Discovery District, strengthening the University of Maryland's role in this fast-growing industry and promising new local jobs and investment. Backed by the Capital of Quantum Initiative, the hub is part of more than $500 million already pledged toward Maryland's quantum ecosystem, drawing startups and even a new U.S. headquarters to the area.

UMD DOTS expands electric Shuttle-UM bus service on campus (dbknews.com) — Electric Shuttle-UM buses are now running more frequently on key routes, including the #104 to College Park Metro and the Discovery District, giving students and nearby residents a quieter, cleaner ride. With 27 electric buses planned by 2027, riders can expect better comfort features like USB charging, improved accessibility, and smoother rides while diesel buses are gradually phased out.
4. No. 4 Maryland men's soccer struggles to capitalize on scoring chances, draws 2-2 with UCLA (dbknews.com) — Maryland men's soccer couldn't quite deliver a home win in College Park, settling for a 2-2 draw against UCLA despite playing up a man for the entire second half. The Terps fired 24 shots and twice came from behind, but defensive lapses and missed chances left them with their first draw of the season instead of long-awaited revenge.
