Mary’s Center Launches Energy Assistance Program to Prince George’s County residents
The program will pay up to $500 of energy and gas utilities
Washington, DC – Mary’s Center was recently awarded $75,000 from the PEPCO Holdings, Inc. Community Foundation to launch an Energy Assistance Program for Prince George’s County, Maryland, residents. The Program will pay up to $500 of electric and/or gas bills of families and individuals experiencing financial hardship.
“Thispartnership with Pepco will allow us to alleviate the stress of debt that thousands of Prince George’s County residents experience,” says Maria Gomez, Mary’s Center President and CEO. “And, we’reexcited to launch this program around the first anniversary of the opening of our site in this County.

During its first year in Prince George’s County, Mary’s Center has provided medical, social, and mental health services to over 5,000 residents. In addition, the Center operates a pediatric dental bus serving Prince George’s County schools. The Energy Assistance Program will enhance the Center’s capacity to improve the quality of life of its residents.
To be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program, individuals/families must reside in Prince George’s County, meet income requirements, and prove financial hardship. The program will begin reviewing participants on February 8, 2013.
