Blessing of the Animals at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land - Oct. 4

Bring your pets to the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land for a blessing on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals

Bring your pets to the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land for a blessing and commemorative dog tag on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2:30 p.m., the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. Free and open to the public. The Franciscan Monastery is located at 1400 Quincy Street NE, Washington, DC 20017. Pets receive a commemorative dog tag. Veterinarians from the DC Veterinary Medical Association will be on hand for free consultations before and after the blessing.

Also on Oct. 4, 11 a.m., the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild will harvest honey from the monastery’s beehives. Join them in the historic greenhouse behind the monastery; $25 (to support the preservation of the gardens); includes an 8 oz jar of freshly bottled monastery honey.
