14 ballot questions for PG voters in November

Democracy means never having to say you get it.

The state and the county between them have placed 14 issues before the Prince George's electorate this year.  14.  Talk about direct democracy. 

The state has 7 questions, some of which you've heard of.

Question 1: whether to amend the state constitution to require that judges in Orphan's Court (which settles estates after death) in Prince George's only must be lawyers.

Question 2: ditto, for Baltimore County

Question 3: whether to amend the state constitution such that an elected state or local official is automatically removed from office on conviction of a felony (the Leslie Johnson amendment)

Question 4: whether undocumented immigrants are eligible for in-state tuition rates at community colleges and state universities

Question 5: whether to approve the congressional districts drawn after the 2010 Census

Question 6: whether gay and lesbian couples may obtain a civil marriage license

Question 7: whether to allow the expansion of slot machine gambling in Maryland, and a new casino in Prince George's

The county has 7 questions

Question A: whether to approve the County Council redistricting plan

Question B: whether to approve an ordinance that has something to do with multiyear county contracts 

Question C: whether to issue $45 million in bonds for library buildings

Question D: whether to issue $76 million in bonds for general county government buildings

Question E: whether to issue $156 million in bonds for fire and police stations

Question F: whether to issue $193 million in bonds for roads, bridges, parking lots, and public works facilities

Question G: whether to issue $156 million in bonds for community college buildings
