Aeolus Quartet Tours China

The University of Maryland Graduate Fellowship String Quartet might return to China for ongoing cultural exchange.

The Æolus Quartet, currently the Graduate Fellowship String Quartet at the University of Maryland, toured in China, from Sept. 7 to 17, at the invitation of Wu Promotion, a premier performing arts advocacy and event scheduling group based in Beijing.

Of the 30 international instrumental ensembles and soloists invited by Wu Promotion, the Æolus Quartet is one of only two performing groups — and the only chamber ensemble — to represent the United States. During their tour, Æolus performed concerts at the Shanghai Fudan University, the Shanghai Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, with an additional concert at Quanzhou Donghai Villa Plaza. The final concert took place in Dalian at the Dalian Area Grand Theater. Additionally, Æolus made a television appearance and Wu Promotion has offered the possibility of a return tour in an ongoing cultural exchange.

You can read about the musicians’ exciting journey on their blog.
