College Park Woods - A Hidden Gem

Tucked away off Metzerott Road about a mile from the campus of the University of MD is a quiet community of about 500 homes - College Park Woods.

This community of single family homes was built in the mid-60s with one street - Gettysburg Lane - built in the mid-70s. It's a nice mix of about 4 architechtural styles along gently rolling hills.

The real attraction to College Park Woods is the hidden or, at least, little known amenities in the community.  

There's the College Park Woods Neighborhood Park maintained by MNCPPC. This park boasts a quiet walking trail, covered picnic pavilion, tennis courts and a full size ball field. Best of all, it's free!

The hosts a full, Olympic sized pool, picnic area and plenty of room to spread out for a tan. Pool membership is not free but it's incredibly reasonable with individual, family and student rates.  Membership is open to everyone. You don't have to be a resident of "the Woods" to enjoy a great pool that's not packed elbow-to-elbow with other people.

Best of all, of course, is that the homes are reasonably priced and quite spacious. All in all, it's  a great place to live and a great plance to escape to for fun and relaxation.
