Cory Sanders to Run for College Park City Council

Sanders announced his candidacy on Monday.

Cory Fitzegerald Sanders, business owner and resident of College Park, announced Monday he will enter the race for District 1 of the College Park City Council.

Sanders, a graduate of Florida A&M University with a degree in Computer Science and an M.B.A. in Cyber Security, has served in the Air Force reserve Officer Training Corps at Lackland AFB, TX; as a member of the College Park Education Advisory Committee to work on improving education in the city; on the College Park Aging Task Force; the North College Park Citizens Association; and as president and founder of the city’s first ever Democratic Club.

Sanders is the owner of SandTech, a small business that provides teleconference solutions. He is also the director at ProTelecom, a government contracting agency that works with the U.S. Department of Defense.

His platform for City Council addresses having a police force for the city of College Park, Route 1 safety, Greenbelt Metro, representation of and resources for senior citizens, rent stabilization and voting rights.

“College Park is a city where I plan to raise a family and retire,” Sanders said, according to a news release. “I am here to listen to the ideas of the residents in District 1. It’s not about what I want, but what my district wants.”

Sanders will officially file for candidacy in August 2015. The election is in November 2015.
