Cleanup in North College Park, Hollywood

The Committee of a Better Environment, in partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation and the Anacostia Watershed Society, are hosting a cleanup in the North College Park, Hollywood section, along the Narragansette Run floodway.

Volunteers will divide into two groups:

  1. Cleanup light: Walk down Narragansett Parkway from Edgewood Road to the start of the stream at Mangum. Pick up trash on the banks and in the stream from there to 52nd Ave.
  2. More adventurous cleanup: Those who don’t mind wading in the water can pick up trash in the stream and on the banks, starting from 52nd Avenue to the railroad tracks. This is a little more of a challenge due to dense brush along the stream, deeper water, etc.

Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Wear or bring knee-high boots in case you need them. If you have a reusable water bottle, please bring it; we’ll supply the water, along with light refreshments, bags for trash, and gloves.
